No, there is no entrance examination for Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AME) admission in India that is conducted, approved, or mandated by any government body. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Government of India, has explicitly stated that it does not conduct, prescribe, authorize, or recognize any entrance test for admission to DGCA-approved AME institutes.
As per the DGCA Public Notice dated 18 April 2019, it was observed that certain private organizations were conducting entrance exams such as AME CET and JEE AME, falsely claiming that admissions to AME institutes were based on these tests. The DGCA has officially clarified that such claims are misleading and illegal, as no such examinations are recognized by the authority.
Therefore, students aspiring to pursue the AME course should note that admissions are carried out directly by DGCA-approved institutes, strictly based on the eligibility criteria laid down in DGCA regulations – and not through any government-conducted entrance examination.
