When it comes to making sure that an aircraft is safe, airworthy, and performing at its best, aircraft maintenance engineering is essential. Regular inspection and maintenance of aircraft systems and parts enable the identification and correction of any flaws or problems before they may cause mishaps or accidents. This aids in preventing possible catastrophes in addition to ensuring the safe functioning of airplanes. The best performance of aircraft, which in turn lowers fuel consumption and operational costs, is a result of proper maintenance. The safe and effective functioning of airplanes depends on aircraft maintenance engineering, which is crucial to the aviation sector.
Candidates must have passed 10+2 or its equivalent with PCM (Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics) as the core courses from a recognized board to apply for an AME program in India.
The regulatory organization in charge of monitoring and controlling civil aviation in India is called the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). In addition to enforcing laws and standards about airworthiness, licensing, and the education of employees in the aviation sector, it has the responsibility of assuring the safety, security, and effectiveness of air traffic operations.
Aeronautical engineering (AE) and aircraft maintenance engineering (AME) are two separate industries within the aviation sector. Aeronautical engineering deals with the design, development, and testing of aircraft and aerospace goods, whereas AME largely focuses on the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of aircraft. The All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has approved the four-year Aeronautical Engineering program, which needs successful completion of 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) as the primary courses. While Aeronautical Engineering focuses on developing, producing, and assuring the aerodynamics and safety of air-capable equipment, the Aircraft Maintenance Engineering program emphasizes ensuring aircraft airworthiness via a combination of theoretical and practical training.
