AME Mechanical B1.1
Within the Mechanical Stream, the branch of Mechanical B1.1 devoted to the research and upkeep of Jet Engines and Heavy Aeroplane Structures is commonly referred to as Category B1.1. Students majoring in Mechanical are awarded an Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Licence in Category B1.1 upon passing all of the DGCA-administered Basic Knowledge Module Examinations and meeting the requirements for maintenance experience listed in Civil Aviation Requirement-66.

AME Mechanical B1.2
Within the Mechanical Stream of Aircraft Maintenance Engineering, Category B1.2 focuses on maintaining light aircraft structures and piston engines. Students who meet the maintenance experience requirements set out by DGCA and do exceptionally well on the CEO of DGCA's Basic Knowledge Module Examinations will be granted an Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Licence in Category B1.2.

AME Mechanical B1.3
Category B1.3 of the Mechanical Stream is devoted to the upkeep of rotatory aircraft structures and turbine engines. Aspiring candidates must pass the CEO's Basic Knowledge Module Examinations and fulfil the DGCA's maintenance experience requirements to be eligible for an Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Licence in Category B1.3.
